Requirements for B.A. in Organizational Leadership

Admission Requirements 2007-08

Applicants are admitted under the requirements of the most current catalog at the time they last enter Bethel.

The College of Adult & Professional Studies will consider applicants who:

  • Submit a completed Application for Admission form with the nonrefundable $25 application fee.
  • Submit official transcripts from all schools previously attended. Include an official high school transcript or GED, unless at least 30 credits have been accepted in transfer.
  • Develop an individual educational plan (IEP) in consultation with your admissions advisor. Requirement is waived if official transcripts document at least 82 accredited semester credits and completion of all general education courses.
  • Submit a resume of work and/or volunteer experience that indicates a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience or its equivalent. 
  • Demonstrate college-level writing ability through the positive evaluation of an Application Essay.
  • Submit Computer Documentation form. Applicants are required to document access to a computer with the required hardware and software for use throughout the program (see: application materials for requirements).
  • Submit a Student Immunization Record.
  • Submit a TOEFL examination score report (required of all international student applicants and all student applicants whose primary language is not English). A minimum score of 550 is required on the paper-based test; 213 on the computer-based test; or 80 on the internet-based test.
  • Indicate acceptance of the Bethel Community Expectations by signing the application form.
  • Interview, if requested by the admissions committee.

To Start the Organizational Leadership Major

In addition to the admission requirements to the College of Adult & Professional Studies, the Organizational Leadership major will consider applicants who:

  • Complete at least 60 semester credits.
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or above on a 4.00 scale on all previous academic work.
  • Petition to enroll in a major and be accepted to a degree completion program.

International Applicants: Additional Admission Requirements

An international applicant is any candidate who is neither a U.S. citizen nor a U.S. permanent resident alien.

International applicants must:

  • Submit official evaluations of foreign transcripts from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member organization (www.naces.org) or from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) (www.cgfns.org).
  • Submit a completed Certificate of Finances form and a copy of current bank statement(s) to show evidence of adequate funds to cover a minimum of one year’s full tuition and living expenses. 
  • If an applicant is receiving funds from a sponsor(s), submit:

    o Notarized Affidavits of Support (I-134).

    o Letters of support from sponsors.

  • Submit a copy of I-94 (applicants currently in the U.S.).
  • Submit a copy of passport (applicants currently in the U.S.).
  • Submit a copy of current visa (applicants currently in the U.S.).
  • Submit documentation of health insurance.
  • If the applicant’s primary language is not English, have a required English language evaluation as part of the admission process.

U.S. Permanent Resident Alien Applicants: Additional Admission Requirements

U.S. Permanent Resident Alien applicants must:

  • Present the applicant's Green Card.

Meeting minimal entrance requirements does not necessarily guarantee admission. Likewise, exceptions to minimum criteria may be made by the admissions committee and may require an interview.

General Education Requirements

Bethel's General Studies program encompasses all the lower-division General Education courses that are required of all students. A FREE evaluation of your transcripts will determine what requirements, if any, you need to fulfill in order to earn your bachelor's degree.

General Education courses cover six major themes designed to respond to the world of the future: Bible/theology, health/wholeness, math/science, technology, self-understanding, Western culture, and world citizenship.

Credits Needed for Graduation

To graduate with your B. A. in Organizational Leadership, you must complete 122 semester credits:

Credits required to enter a degree-completion cohort 60
Upper-division credits in the business management major 40
Additional credits earned through elective credit options 22
Total semester credits required for graduation 122
